I'm a previously P.E hating yoga fanatic who been practising
yoga for 22 years and teaching for 5! I always saw myself as a nerdy, non-athletic kid in school until I discovered yoga and the benefits it has on both the body and the mind.
When I was going through my teacher training I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia.
Although this diagnosis has been in a lot of ways a negative for me there has also been positives. It has changed the way I practise yoga and the way I teach - it has made me so aware of how yoga can help people with physical limitations like me own, and how it can help people deal with mental affects of these conditions.
I am now a Yoga Alliance, British Wheel of Yoga and Yoga Federation of Northern Ireland certified teacher who was nominated for Yoga Provider of the Year 2019 in the Health and Fitness Awards NI, specialising in a completely inclusive yoga, bringing yoga to everyone no matter what your physical limitations are. I bring yoga to people who aren't able to go to a 'standard' class, people who can't leave the house, people who didn't think yoga could ever be something they could do.
I run an armchair based yoga class for the elderly on a weekly basis in Bangor, a haha style class in my Ballywalter studio each week and provide one-to-one sessions, in your home, mine or even online, where I tailor the class to the specific needs of the student. I have a range of students, of all ages, from those who are just starting out and don't want to join a class yet; to those who have physical limitations and need more one-on-one or variations.
Lastly, I have yoga and meditation videos on YouTube, as well as exclusive content on Patreon. My YouTube channel is at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCY6OyF-A9zPlJqBNFj6lJ2w and you can find my Patreon at patreon.com/serenityyogabelfast
I also provide yoga sessions for groups, and in the past have worked with both the Alzheimer's Society and the Arthritis Organisation in Northern Ireland.
For more details on any of the services I offer, or just to ask questions, contact me on lesley@serenityyogabelfast.com or you can use the contact me form on this page! I can also be found lurking on Facebook as serenityyogabelfast or Instagram @serenityyogabelfast .
